'Mist on the Hills' |
The Presentation Print This print is one of a limited edition of 495. It is a giclee print on museum quality paper with a slightly structured soft-textured surface as in a traditional fine art paper. The paper is acid free with a weight of 315gsm. The normal print size is approximately 17 x 23 inches, but, as this is a bespoke piece of art, the artist can produce it for you at a smaller size so that it can hang in that ideal position in your house or will be the best size for a gift. A bespoke picture can have your loggo, or wording placed on it, a superb solution for a presentation gift.
An email newsletter tells you which prints are rare. Typically it features one print and tells the story behind it. It tells collectors the latest painting Michael is working on and the latest print he is producing. It describes where Michael's paintings are being exhibited and selects a charity print supporting farmers, lifeboats, dartmoor ponies or hospice charities to show how that print is making a difference. The newsletter is free and you can unsubscribe at any time. Please click on the link to be kept in touch with Michael's work. The Story of the PaintingThis is the scene in Lynmouth before the devastating floods of 1952. In the floods many of the houses were swept away, and, since then, the river has changed its course through the town. There is also a dividing wall, running roughly from the tower to where the ketch is moored between the river and the port. The Tower is called the Rendish Tower, has a beacon on top to guide fishing boats into the harbour, and used to be used for storing water for the public baths. Some say it was built as a copy of a tower on the Rhine in the 1800s, others disagree. It was swept away in the 1952 floods and the present tower is a replica. The wooden trading ketch, the Three Sisters is typical of the ketches used throughout the South West and was owned by the Peddar family of Lynmouth. The dinghy being pushed out was typical of those used for taking trippers round the harbour. The road that leads up from the harbour in Lynmouth is called Mars Hill, and used to be to only way between Lynmouth and Lynton and coal, slate and everything else from the cargoes offloaded in the harbour had to be dragged up the hill.
