The Presentation Print This print is an open edition giclee print on museum quality paper with a slightly structured soft-textured surface as in a traditional fine art paper. The paper is acid free with a weight of 315gsm. The normal print size is approximately 12.5 x 16 inches, but, as this is a bespoke piece of art, the artist can produce it for you at a smaller size so that it can hang in that ideal position in your house or will be the best size for a gift. A bespoke picture can have your loggo, or wording placed on it, a superb solution for a presentation gift.
An email newsletter tells you which prints are rare. Typically it features one print and tells the story behind it. It tells collectors the latest painting Michael is working on and the latest print he is producing. It describes where Michael's paintings are being exhibited and selects a charity print supporting farmers, lifeboats, dartmoor ponies or hospice charities to show how that print is making a difference. The newsletter is free and you can unsubscribe at any time. Please click on the link to be kept in touch with Michael's work. The Story of the PaintingThe pony stands on the foreshore in the village of Appledore. The lifeboat house is the low house on the right. Two horses used to be stabled in another building there and they, in the past, used to help launch the lifeboat. When the maroons went the horses used to get very excited as they knew that they would be used. In earlier times there were two lifeboats - one on each side of the river based further away so the horses would be cantered round to the correct launching place. The house on the right was the Old Customs House and Michael often wondered why the large window you see is so out of keeping with the traditional windows in the rest of the house. During this painting the owner of the house told him that, during the Second World War a searchlight stood there to illuminate ships coming in the river. The pony was a local pony as there are grazing rights over the local golf course, the Royal Devon, and sheep and ponies graze there (presumably not doing much good to the greens!)
